Laser Fungal Nail Treatment

Laser Fungal Nail Treatment

At Adrian Kriss & Associates we offer a range of laser podiatry treatments, which are determined following an initial in-depth consultation with Adrian or one of our other podiatrists. Our clinic prides itself on being able to tell you honestly whether or not the laser treatment is the best treatment for you. We are able to provide more traditional treatment alternatives to laser. In our experience, the patients have been extremely satisfied with the results, and lasers are a safe method of podiatry treatment.

We treat nail infections on toe nails as well as finger nails.

We use two different laser systems: cold laser provided by Lunula Laser and a hot laser, provided by Fotona Laser system.

"Thank you so much for all your help when my feet were in need. This is a wonderful practice and I will be returning. Wonderful tea and fantastic practice, very professional" - V.L.

Lunula Cold laser

We are proud to offer the latest, state of the art painless laser fungal nail treatments, in conjunction with London Nail Laser Clinic, Harley Street. Lunula Laser safely treats toenail (or fingernail) fungus in several 12 minute, painless treatment sessions.

The number of treatments required would depend on the severity of your condition and how well your body responds to the treatment, but the minimum course of four treatment sessions is recommended at weekly intervals.

Lunula cold laser treatment is a simple and non-invasive procedure, where your foot (or hand) with the infected nail is placed into a laser delivery booth for 12 minutes during each treatment session. Therefore, this can be a very quick lunch-time procedure, which is painless and you are able to resume your daily activities with minimal disruption.

If both of your feet (or hands) are infected, than allow 24 minutes for each treatment session, plus the consultation time. This is a simple procedure performed by the most complex modulation of lasers.

Fotona Hot Laser

Fotona Hot laser

Fotona hot laser is an alternative to the Lunula cold laser treatment, but could also be used in conjunction with it as part of your treatment plan.

There has been some criticism of the hot lasers from practitioners specializing in cold laser treatments only as these are generally seen as less comfortable. Our clinical experience of both lasers shows that there are benefits to using the hot Fotona laser, for example, where only one toe nail is infected, or the infection of the toe is more profound and long-standing

The hot laser heats the nail tissue thus killing off the fungus. The discomfort is not unbearable and your podiatrist will carry out gradual tissue heating and will work with you on the level of heating needed and the the number of sessions required.

We have seen that with some patients, due to their body metabolism, the nail fungus is killed more quickly with the help of the hot Fotona laser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have a fungal nail infection?

You may be suffering from the fungal nail infection if you have one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Thickened nail
  • Crumbly or brittle nail
  • Nail distorted in shape or separated
  • Nail with no luster or shine
  • A white, brown or yellow colored nail

What are other methods of treating fungal nail infections?

Generally, fungal nail infections are difficult to treat safely and effectively, but these could be treated with oral medications or topical drugs. These alternative treatments could have side effects and potentially to serious long-term health risks and are often ineffective, as they do not penetrate through the nail to reach the infection source.

Why should I try the laser treatment?

Whichever laser system you choose, the key difference between the laser and a traditional or DIY treatments of nail fungus is that lasers kill the fungus quicker and more effectively, thus avoiding the spread of the infection. The appearance of the nails improves significantly faster with a reduced risk of re-occurrence.
